Valentine’s Day—It's a whole different ballgame in Japan. Rather than a mutual exchange of chocolates, gifts, and flowers on the 14th of February, only the females give chocolates. Then, on “White Day,” which is sometime in mid-March (I have no idea why it is called that), the males give chocolate back to the females that they received them from BUT in bigger and better form. You can see why this can cause quite a dilemma for tomorrow’s big day, especially since there is that month gap where interests and relationships change but the obligation is still there. According to friends, the women who work in male dominated offices have it the best. They give small and simple chocolates to all of the men and then are just showered with chocolate come March. I am personally working on my chocolate giving strategy right now. We’ll see how it all pans out in a month. :)
